Do as I say, not as I do

Have your say

There have been two very interesting articles in the Sheffield Star this week that show the total hypocrisy of the Labour-controlled Sheffield city council.

In Wednesdays edition (May 13), we heard that charities are being forced to pay more for their waste collection. The cost for the largest black bin will rise from £415.49 to £432.11, administration fees from £19 to £52 and delivery costs by £2 to £52.

At the same time, we read in Monday’s edition (May 12) that Sheffield council has spent nearly £1.3 million on refreshments for ‘meetings and events’ over a five year period. While I understand there are times when the council need to provide refreshments, this seems to be a staggering amount and demonstrates once again their “do as I say, not as I do” mentality.

Surely they should be setting an example in supporting charities in every way possible and curb excessive spending.
