A TEAM of Sheffield teenagers took on a tricky task - restoring a top DJ’s beloved old banger into tip-top condition.
Rickielee Roughly, Dalton Raworth, Stephen Watts and Jonathon Lockwood heard an on-air appeal by Capital FM breakfast presenter Simon Hirst over the state of his 1984 Vauxhall Nova GTE.
The quartet, apprentices at Just Car Clinic, Burngreave, took on the challenge of restoring and painting the car’s panels and Barnsley-born Simon was amazed to see the results. The Hirsty’s Daily Dose star said: “I had given up hope of ever restoring the car, but I just could not bring myself to part with it, as I have had it since 1985.
“When I discussed my dilemma on air, Just Car Clinic got in contact to say they had the expertise to take on the job. I can’t believe the quality of work they’ve done.
“The lads really have brought it back to life - the finish is now showroom quality and I just can’t wait to get back to driving it again after all these years.”
