Dissolvable wedding dresses make Sheffield debut - PICTURE
DISSOLVABLE wedding dresses are the latest fashion innovation heading for a catwalk in Sheffield.
A charity event will showcase them for the first time.
The product of a joint venture between fashion and engineering students at Sheffield Hallam University, the dress dissolves on contact with water allowing it to be transformed into a new outfit.
The process can be repeated four times - meaning the dress is made up of five outfits in one.
The idea was to challenge the idea a wedding dress should only be used once and to symbolise the throwaway approach many people take to modern clothing.
The Captivating - The Heart of Fashion show at Sheffield City Hall at 7pm on June 19 will be raising money for the City Hearts charity, which helps women overcome serious issues such as drug and alcohol addictions, self harm, and unplanned pregnancies.
