BUMPER cars – designed to help people with disabilities enjoy taking to the ice – are being launched in Sheffield.

IceSheffield in Attercliffe has invested in the special cars which resemble giant rubber rings and are controlled by joysticks.

Jane Hobson, from Sheffield initiative It’s My Life, which supports people with learning disabilities, said: “They are a great addition to the inclusive sessions already on offer for people with disabilities at iceSheffield.

“Bumper cars enable everyone to enjoy being on the ice and also have great fun.”

The cars will form part of a new, weekly event for disabled people.

Shaun Lough, for iceSheffield, said: “The cars are fantastic and part of our commitment to ensuring people of all ages and abilities can experience the rink.”
