IT WAS a meal that went down a real treat.
Diners at Barnsley College’s Zest Restaurant turned back the clock to 1912 at a special Titanic-themed evening to mark the 100th anniversary of the ship’s sinking.
The five- course menu served to first-class passengers on April 14, was recreated by college catering students.
Customers enjoyed a variety of indulgent foods which were the height of sophistication in the early 1900s, including salmon with mousseline sauce, sauté of chicken Lyonnaise, roast duckling with apple sauce and Waldorf pudding, while listening to music which would have been played by the Titanic band.
Restaurant supervisor Maxine Dyer said: “The Titanic-themed evening was the students’ idea and proved to be a huge success.”
