NOT so very long ago she was in a very sorry state.

But this beautiful rescue dog, found filthy and abandoned, is now looking so good she’s been chosen as a model for a high end international diamond company.

Dee Dee the husky has been winning hearts ever since she was brought into the RSPCA Sheffield Animal Centre in Attercliffe.

Recovering from cruel treatment, smelly and underweight, she was adopted by Martin Newell and Liz Littlewood of Wincobank who saw she was a rough diamond just waiting for a good home.

Martin said: “I’d like to say I spotted her straight away but she was lying down and hiding, so when I first walked along the kennels I missed her.

“I only doubled back when, through the noise of the barking from the other dogs, came this distinct and eerie howl of a husky.

“All the other dogs fell silent and it was a really magical moment. Inside one of the kennels was Dee Dee in all her white glory, shining like a star, looking at me.”

That star quality shone through when Dee Dee and her family were out walking in the Peak District and she was talent spotted by a TV animal casting agent.

“A couple of months later we got a call asking us if we could go to London for a secret shoot for a diamond company,” said Martin.

“It took around 10 minutes for them to get the shots they needed and the rest of the time was taken up by her being fussed and cuddled by the models and crew!”

RSPCA manager Stella White is delighted. “She was a such an intelligent dog, with stunning looks. It goes to show how many gems we have here, waiting for homes.”
