Detectives keep ‘open mind’ over death of man found in stream in Barnsley

Detectives investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a South Yorkshire stream are keeping ‘an open mind’ over how he died.

The man, who police have not yet identified, was found in a steam close to Valley Road, Wombwell, Barnsley, at 6.05pm on Monday.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Enquiries are ongoing in order to establish the last known movements of the man, and the cause of his death.

“A post-mortem examination is set to take place and the man is also yet to be formally identified.”
