DETECTIVES are hunting a rapist who attacked a woman as she took a short cut after enjoying a day at Doncaster races.
The rape occurred on St Leger Day - Saturday September 15 - at around 10pm near the Town Fields in Doncaster.
The 24-year-old woman who is of slim build with long hair and was dressed for a day at the races was walking home.
As she passed along Lawn Avenue and through an alleyway towards Town Fields, she became aware of a man behind her who began to shout to get her attention.
When she arrived at the access road at the top of Town Fields, she was grabbed by the man and raped.
She fled towards Town Moor and Imperial Crescent to seek help.
The suspect was in his mid 20s, 6ft tall and thin.
He had short, light-coloured hair, which was gelled flat.
He wore dark jeans and a light T-shirt.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who has information about the attack and would particularly like to trace those who were in the area at the time, including a white man who was walking towards East Laith Gate.
He had black unkempt hair and wore tight black trousers with a black T-shirt and motif. Witnesses should call police on 101 quoting incident 270 of September 20 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
