A TEAM of 25 firefighters tackled a blaze at a derelict factory in Sheffield.
The fire broke out at the old SR Gent factory on East Bank Road, Arbourthorne, just after 2.30pm yesterday.
The empty building was well alight by the time crews arrived.
At the height of the blaze five fire engines attended the scene along with a special support unit, and crew members entered the building wearing breathing equipment before using water jets to put out the flames.
The fire was out by 3.20pm, but two crews stayed behind to dampen down the burned building.
SR Gent was once one of the region’s major employers.
It used to employ thousands of machinists to produce clothing for top stores, including Marks and Spencer.
The Sheffield factory produced umbrellas.
