Supporters are being urged to dig out their walking boots and sign up to take part in a walk around Ladybower Reservoir in Derbyshire for local children’s charity SAFE@LAST taking place on Saturday September 26

The walk features as part of SAFE@LAST’s fundraising initiative launched earlier this year – The Challenge Club; a series of challenging events taking place throughout 2015/2016 to round up intrepid supporters and raise money to help fund the charity’s services. Supporters have already completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks, a cycling challenge and Tough Mudder this year.

The walk will be suitable for all the family and cover approximately 6 miles in the stunning Peak District. SAFE@LAST is providing those taking part with a return coach from the charities office in Dinnington (or walkers can make their own way and meet the group at the start of the walk).

The team will start their journey in Ashtop and follow the leafy trail up a gentle summit of beautiful views then back down to visit the remains of Derwent Village.

Registration for the event is free and participants are asked to raise a minimum of £25 in sponsorship to help the charity continue to provide vital services to children across South Yorkshire who are at risk of running away.

The charity’s Founder Hilary Massarella will be leading the walk and said: “I’m really looking forward to completing this challenge in the stunning countryside just on our doorstep surrounded by SAFE@LAST supporters. The support of our local community is essential so SAFE@LAST can continue keeping children safe and I hope lots of people can get involved in this event.”

Hilary added: “This will be a thoroughly enjoyable day and we’ll add special SAFE@LAST touches including games when we stop for our picnic and goody bags as a treat for completing the walk.”
