Pub, club and off licence staff in Chesterfield, Bolsover and North East Derbyshire are being offered the chance to study for a free qualification in responsible alcohol sales.

Derbyshire Police are putting on the course which will allow people who work in the licensing trade to gain a recognised qualification.

The one day course covers responsibilities associated with the sale of alcohol, underage sales and serving people who are drunk.

PC Daryl Robotham, Licencing Officer for the area, said: “As well as carrying out checks and test purchase operations to ensure staff are keeping within the licensing laws, it is also important to us to work with premises to offer training and support to licensing staff around their responsibilities.”
