A garden centre is facing a Christmas crisis after its resident Santa Claus phoned in sick.
The faithful Father Christmas who visits Ferndale Garden Centre in Coal Aston, Derbyshire, every year is unable to sleigh his way into the centre this month as he is awaiting a foot operation.
The jolly man had been due to meet children at Ferndale on weekends from late November right up to Christmas but is laid up in bed, leaving the centre in search of a Santa stand-in.
Helen Watson, director of Ferndale Garden Centre, said: “Santa will definitely be fit by Christmas Eve, but in the meantime we are stuck without one of our favourite Christmas events. We need a miracle.”
Anybody who could help out Ferndale on Saturdays and Sundays from 29 November to 20 December, should contact 01246 412763.
