Derbyshire dancer pirouettes her way to success

Waiting for Video...

Little Elise Watt is just nuts about her new ballet role!

The eight-year-old, of Renishaw, has beaten 250 other children to win the role of Snowflake in the English Youth Ballet production of The Nutcracker at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal next month.

Mum Sara said: “We’re staggered at how well she has done. Elise has danced from the age of three but in the last year has really found her love for ballet.

“She has just completed two days of rehearsals and there is no element of being tired, she’s just very excited.”

Elise currently trains at Susan’s Danstudio in Eckington, but from September she will also attend the prestigious Royal Ballet School Associates Programme in Leeds.

The ballerina pirouetted her way on to the programme after completing a tough audition process, with just 50 out of 160 dancers making the cut.

Sara added: “The Royal Ballet School programme nurtures young talent and really helps the dancers improve their technique.

“Elise’s dream is to become a professional dancer and we hope this puts her on the right track.”
