Mountain rescue team volunteers in Edale have been called out over 100 times so far this year.

On Saturday members dealt with four incidents including a man found collapsed at Lawrencefield Quarry, Hathersage; a man who had collapsed at Howden Reservoir; a mountain biker who crashed near Hagwater Bridge off the A57 and a climber who broke his leg in a fall at Stanage Edge.

The man found at Hathersage could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A mountain rescue team spokesman said: “One hundred call-outs by September represents an extremely busy year for the team. We are one of the busiest in the UK and 100 per cent voluntary.”
