An investigation into the death of a toddler who died a year ago today after falling from a block of Sheffield flats is continuing.
Ryaheen Banimuslem, aged two, plunged 60ft from a fourth-floor balcony at Wicker Riverside apartments on North Bank on June 27, 2012.
She lived in the flats with her family, who were orginally from Iraq before they moved to Sheffield, and died of her injuries.
An investigation by police, the Health and Safety Executive and the Crown Prosecution Service was launched after the incident – and is still ongoing.
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “This has been a complex enquiry.
“We are hopeful that in the very near future a decision will be made.
“Throughout the process specially trained police officers and representatives from partner agencies have been in contact with the family to provide support.”
An inquest opened into Ryaheen’s death last year, but a date has not yet been set for it to conclude.
Arim, the managing agent of the flats development, said it had co-operated with all agencies during the investigation.
