INSPIRATIONAL teenager Dean Gregory carried the Olympic flame with pride - just eight days after his father’s tragic and sudden death.
Dean, aged 17, from Killamarsh, was selected to carry the torch in recognition of his efforts helping to look after his dad Kevin, 58, who lost a leg when Dean was just seven years old.
The Eckington School pupil and keen cricketer also helps manage the junior teams at Killamarsh cricket club, giving up hours each week.
His mum, Rebecca, 37, said: “My husband would have been ecstatic. The day was fantastic.
“My husband’s death on Father’s Day changed our lives, but I said to Dean - ‘you will carry that torch with pride’.”
