MARKET stallholders are set to continue trading in a North Derbyshire town for another five years.
Chesterfield Council and Staveley Town Council have agreed on a management plan that should secure the future of Staveley’s market.
Staveley Town Council took over the running of the market from Chesterfield Council three years ago with a financial subsidy from the borough council – and the subsidy will now continue as part of the new management plan.
A new weekly market will begin next Tuesday, April 3, as well as the normal market days of Friday and Saturday.
Coun John Williams, leader of Staveley Town Council, said: “Staveley Market provides good value for money to local residents. We have a number of ideas to help grow the market.”
