Deaf signing is music to ears at Sheffield schools

PUPILS at 17 Sheffield schools are taking part in an attempt to break a world record today – for the most people signing and singing a song simultaneously.

The sign2sing event was organised by the charity SignHealth, with more than 1,200 schools taking part nationally.

Chief executive Steve Powell said: “Young people from all over the country and overseas will sign a song called ‘sign2sing’, which has been composed especially for the event.

“It is also a fundraiser for us through a suggested £1 donation from everyone taking part.

“Money raised will be used to continue our work helping to improve the mental and physical health and well-being of deaf and hard of hearing people.”
