A SHEFFIELD sports venue is celebrating the Paralympics with a family fun day.
Wheelchair basketball, table tennis, football and swimming are among the activities on offer for free at Concord Sports Centre, Shiregreen Lane, Shiregreen, on Saturday.
The event, organised to mark the London 2012 Paralympics, also features multi-sensory room sessions.
Organisers hope to create more awareness and help increase participation in Paralympic sports.
Helen Broadbent, general manager of the centre, operated by Sheffield International Venues, said: “The Paralympics are set to be bigger than ever in London this year and we want to make sure families in Sheffield get as excited and involved with them as we are.
“We have some amazing Paralympic athletes who train at our venues here in Sheffield competing in the games and this is a great way to give them some support, but also inspire the next generation of Olympic and Paralympic athletes.”
The activities at the family fun day will run from 10am until 3pm.
