Council staff got up at the crack of dawn on Monday to help with the clean-up operation after the Tramlines festival.

Extra staff were drafted in from 5am on Monday to clear litter from Devonshire Green, the Peace Gardens, Barker’s Pool and other key locations after the weekend, which saw more than 900 bands performing to an estimated 150,000 people from Friday to Sunday.

Additional personnel were at work from 5am to 7am to target the main festival areas, in a big effort to get them ready for business as usual before the morning rush hour.

Coun Jack Scott, Sheffield Council cabinet member for environment, waste and streetscene, said: “Tramlines has been a huge success again this year, but part of the smooth running of hosting large events like this is making sure the city is returned to its usual condition afterwards.”
