COMMUNITY champion Mothiur Rahman Shahin has been honoured for his work.
The 41-year-old, from Darnall, who owns the Chutney Restaurant, Gleadless Townend, received a national award for his contributions to Sheffield’s Bangladeshi community and other groups.
A party was organised at Staniforth Road Neighbourhood Centre to celebrate the award, where guests included Coun Shaffaq Mohammed, Sheffield Council Lib Dem group leader and Shaun Wright, Labour’s South Yorkshire police and crime commissioner candidate.
Mr Shahin has been key in building bonds with Asian groups in Sheffield.
His efforts include staging an event which saw more than 1,200 people of Bangladeshi origin join fellow Muslims from elsewhere to celebrate at an Eid Ul Fitr festival in Darnall.
Coun Mohammed said: “His award is well deserved.”
