BIG-hearted student Danielle McCalla has been crowned a cancer charity’s ‘exceptional’ young volunteer.
Marie Curie Cancer Care presented the 21-year-old with the award in a glittering ceremony at the London Stock Exchange.
Danielle, of Sheffield, began volunteering with the charity’s city office in August 2010 as part of her Sheffield Hallam University course in event management.
She provided ‘invaluable’ support to the local fundraising team during a 48-week unpaid placement and still continues to help out.
Director of volunteering Ruth Bravery said: “Support from volunteers like Danielle means the charity can continue to raise funds to provide nursing care and support for terminally ill people and their families.”
Danielle received a Caithness Glass paperweight and certificate at the Volunteer Achievement Awards.
