NOVELIST Dame Margaret Drabble will become the latest Sheffield legend inducted into the city’s walk of fame next week.
A ceremony on Wednesday, May 30, will see the internationally-acclaimed writer join the likes of Joe Cocker, Michael Palin and Jessica Ennis in a plaque laid outside the town hall.
Lord Mayor of Sheffield Coun John Campbell is hosting the event with Sheffield Council leader Julie Dore.
He said: “Dame Margaret will be a wonderful addition to the walk of fame.
“She is respected as a novelist and critic not just in this country, but internationally and has highlighted Sheffield’s reputation as an influential centre for literature and the arts in general.
“There were many very worthy nominations for this year’s honour, but she truly deserves to become a Sheffield Legend, as one of the finest novelists of her generation.”
