Cyclist hit over head with table legs

A cyclist was hit over the head by two men armed with table legs, police have revealed.

The 42-year-old was riding along Dale Road, Rawmarsh, Rotherham, when a man jumped in front of him, causing him to swerve and almost fall off his bike.

An altercation then followed, during which the cyclist was struck over the head by two men carrying table legs.

A 33-year-old was arrested at the scene and charged with assault.

He has been remanded in custody pending court.

Another man, who was white, around 18 years old, slim and wearing a grey zip-up tracksuit top, fled from the scene.
