Cycle trek raises £3,000

COAST-to coast cyclist Graham Russell handed over £3,000 to the chemotherapy suite at Rotherham Hospital after completing his gruelling challenge.

The 52-year-old rode 212 miles from St Bees Head to Robin Hoods Bay, inspired by the care his wife Wendy received when she was had treatment for breast cancer two-and-a-half years ago.

He wanted to raise money for a TV or music system to entertain cancer patients at the hospital.

Graham, head of audiology at Rotherham Hospital, said the ride was exhausting.

He said: "It was very tiring but I decided I was going to do this, and once I have made my mind up I stick to it."

Graham was supported by cardiology manager Wendy and two other friends who kept his spirits up from their team camper van.
