Yobs who placed concrete blocks on rail tracks in Rotherham have been condemned for risking lives.
British Transport Police said it was a ‘miracle’ a freight train which hit the concrete did not derail.
The train was approaching Blythe Road Bridge, Maltby, Rotherham, on Saturday when it hit the blocks.
British Transport Police said concrete troughing lids had been wrapped in cable and placed on the track before being covered in branches.
PC Richard Ward said: “We believe this was a deliberate attempt to derail a train. The fact it remained on the tracks is a miracle.”
