A block of flats in Sheffield is cordoned off this morning and surrounded by police - after a terrified woman was grabbed by a man and pushed to the ground.

The 28-year-old woman dialled 999 at 6.55am and within minutes police arrived at the scene - Batemoor Road, Batemoor - and cordoned the area off.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “An incident was called in to police this morning at approximately 6.55am on Batemoor Road.

“A 28-year-old woman reported that she had been grabbed by an unknown man and pushed to the ground.

“The man is then alleged to have run away from the scene leaving the woman on the floor.

“The woman is not believed to be injured and is currently receiving support from officers.

“Police are currently at the scene investigating the incident and would ask anyone who may have information to call 101, quoting incident number 113 of November 13.”
