Two suspected World War II bombs have been recovered from a Sheffield building site this evening.

Police said all roads have now reopened and trams are back running after the shells were found near the former Don Valley Stadium at 1pm today.

A police spokesman said: “Officers would again like to thank the public for their patience during this incident.”

Specialist officers were called to the scene to remove the devices.

A cordon had been in place for several hours and Worksop Road was closed at the junction with Britnall Street, Attercliffe.

Trams were suspended between Nunnery Square and the Motorpoint Arena - affecting the journeys of thousands of fans going to see The Vamps at the venue this evening.
