Two men were arrested on suspicion of possessing a gun after a stand off at a house in Doncaster.
Officers cordoned off Poplar Grove in Conisbrough and brought in specialist negotiators when two men thought to have a gun refused to leave a house yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to a food store in Conisbrough at 4.55pm after reports that two men were making threats, causing damage and in possession of a gun.
The men left the store and a search of the area led police to the house in Poplar Grove.
Police later arrested two men, aged 33 and 38, on suspicion of criminal damage and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police arrested two men following a stand off at a property in Doncaster.
“One man was arrested immediately and a second was negotiated out of the property after engaging with officers at the scene.
“Poplar Grove was cordoned off at both ends while the negotiations were underway.
“The road has now been re-opened and both men remain in police custody.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
