Police have arrested a 17-year-old girl and a 23-year-old man over the murder of a South Yorkshire pensioner.
They are both in custody this morning and are to be quizzed over the death.
A murder probe was launched following the discovery of the body of a woman, believed to be in her 70s, in a house on Birkwood Avenue, Cudworth, Barnsley, at 5.35pm yesterday.
The crime scene is cordoned off and under police guard this morning.
Forensic experts did an initial sweep of the spot where the body was found yesterday.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Officers have arrested two people in connection with the murder investigation launched last night in Barnsley.
“A 23-year-old man and 17-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody.
“Emergency services were called to an address in Birkwood Avenue, Cudworth, at about 5.35pm yesterday evening after the body of an elderly woman, believed to be in her 70s, was found in the property.”
