An elderly couple have been left devastated after burglars ransacked every room of their home.
Thieves made off with treasured family jewellery, unopened birthday cards and even money saved up for charity from the house of Betty and John Asher in Todwick, near Sheffield.
They made off with heirlooms including wedding rings owned by Betty’s mother and grandmother and a locket given to her by her grandfather when she was 12.
The house was trashed in the daylight raid, with clothes and papers strewn around the property.
The couple, both aged in their 70s, today made an emotional appeal for anyone who knows anything about the raid on July 23 to get in touch with police.
