a UNIVERSITY of Sheffield manager has thanked police officers and members of the public for their support after a student was left fighting for life after a collision with a double decker bus.
The 18-year-old was struck on Glossop Road outside the students’ union venue Bar One, where an end-of-term party was being held offering cut-price alcoholic drinks from 10am.
Greg Oldfield, the university’s external relations manager, said: “Our thoughts are with the student and her family and we hope she makes a speedy recovery.
“The family and the university have received a number of messages of support from the community and I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you. They do really mean a lot.”
The student is in a serious condition in hospital.
