Tributes have been paid to a man who died after he was assaulted during a robbery at his home on Christmas Day.
Stephen Starkey, aged 61, opened his door to a man who attacked him before stealing cash and a PlayStation 3 games console.
Wayne Muirhead, aged 40, of Batemoor Road, Batemoor, has been charged with robbery over the incident.
He was initially arrested on suspicion of murder, along with a 37-year-old man, who has been bailed.
Mr Starkey, of Reney Crescent, Greenhill, was a father-of-four and a grandfather.
He used to work as a caretaker in blocks of flats in and around Greenhill.
Stefania Crick said: “He was harmless. Didn’t deserve this.”
Caz Maw, writing on The Star’s Facebook page, said: “Cruelly taken too soon. Top bloke, will be sadly missed, All your ex-colleagues at Sheffield City Council are in total shock and disbelief. Lowedges/Greenhill won’t be the same without you.”
