THIEVES stole 10 bikes and five bicycle frames worth almost £5,000 from a Sheffield shop by removing an entire window to get inside.
They struck at The Bike Tree on Abbeydale Road South, Dore, in the early hours, by removing the complete window frame.
The gang escaped with 10 complete bikes, five frames and other parts and accessories.
It is believed they used a vehicle to pull the window frame away from the building to gain entry into the shop.
Owner Scott Lanzi, who set up the shop a year ago, said he was bitterly disappointed by the loss of stock - but would continue trading.
“It’s one of those things, almost an occupational hazard in these times,” he said.
“We are a reasonably new shop after only setting up last year and just when you think you are getting established someone does this.
“I don’t think we are alone in this kind of thing happening and we probably won’t be the last, but onwards and upwards, we will get back on our feet as soon as we can and we will carry on.”
Acting manager Adam Bedford said: “The bikes and frames stolen were a random mix of items nearest the removed window.
“It suggests the thieves were more opportunistic than selective.”
The bikes stolen included a We The People Trust BMX orange bike worth £450, with a frame number of HAHTK00619.
A Premium Solo BMX Matt Seafoam in turquoise, worth £330, was stolen, with the frame number P11E1669.
A Cube AMS 130 Pro Full Suspension mountain bike in white, black and blue was taken. It is worth £1,699 and has a frame number of WOW00707EM1110F.
And the most expensive bike, worth £2,000, was a white Mondraker Factor Full Suspension mountain bike, with the frame number AS1008082.
