A teenage ice hockey player from Sheffield was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a opposition team’s coach.
The boy was playing for Sheffield Ice Hockey Academy’s U16s in a game against Coventry Blaze when he allegedly clashed heads with the coach during a fixture in Coventry on Sunday.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “Police were called to a report of an assault following an ice hockey game.
“A man suffered an injury to his nose after being assaulted.
“A 15-year-old lad from South Yorkshire was arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed.”
Ken Taggart, Chairman of the English Ice Hockey Association, said: “We are waiting for the results of a police investigation into this incident.”
