Police officers investigating a shooting in which a Sheffield binman was injured on his round have interviewed a teenage boy and seized an air weapon.

South Yorkshire Police said the 16-year-old was interviewed on a ‘voluntary’ basis.

He was not officially arrested.

Further inquiries are still to be carried out.

David Dannatt, aged 48, from Rotherham, was working on Standon Road, Wincobank, when he was shot.

The dad-of-two, who works for Sheffield Council’s waste contractor, Veolia, was left with three bleeding pellet wounds in his back after the attack.

He called police from the scene to alert officers to the incident.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
