A PEEPING Tom who spied on girls getting undressed at a South Yorkshire leisure centre is being hunted by police, writes Russ Newton.
Staff at The Dome in Doncaster were shocked to discover a spyhole had been made in a door in the Lagoons communal changing rooms.
Today police released a picture of the man believed to have been staring through it.
It is the second time in three months that males have been seen to be acting suspiciously in the pools and changing area.
Police say the latest incident involved a man allegedly caught looking at a 10-year-old girl as she was getting changed after swimming at The Dome.
The incident happened after the girl had been swimming with her family and had gone into a cubicle on her own to get changed.
Once dressed she realised she was being watched through a hole that had been made in the cubicle door. She told her parents, who alerted leisure staff.
The man is white, approximately 40-years-old, and of a stocky build. He has brown hair and is clean-shaven.
Police today released CCTV images taken from inside The Dome, and are keen to hear from anybody who may recognise the man.
Michael Hart, The Dome’s general manager, said: “We are working with the police to assist them in finding this individual and have provided CCTV footage which we hope will help them to identify him.
“Our staff are extremely vigilant and patrol the changing rooms on a regular basis. The safety of our customers is our number one priority.
“As a responsible operator we installed CCTV throughout the venue and at times like this it proves to be invaluable as it provides the police with extra identifying evidence.
“We also work closely with other leisure venues to share best practice to deter such individuals.”
Police are still trying to trace an older man alleged to be involved in another worrying sexual incident last autumn.
He committed a sexual act in the pool in front of two children - a 13-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl - who were swimming near to him.
The man was white and in his early 50s. He had thinning hair and a beard and was stocky.
Police said the man was not known to them, and added such an incident had never previously occurred at The Dome.
Anybody with information about the Peeping Tom is asked to contact the police on 0114 220 2020 quoting incident number 711 of Sunday February 27.
