South Yorkshire’s under fire Police and Crime Commissioner Shaun Wright is to be grilled by the Home Affairs Select Committee this afternoon.
He is to appear before cross-party body to answer questions about his knowledge of the child sex abuse scandal in Rotherham when he was the Rotherham councillor with responsibility for children’s services from 2005 to 2010.
Mr Wright has refused to step down from his £85,000-a-year current position as the county’s Chief and Crime Commissioner despite calls from the Prime Minister.
Chief Constable David Crompton, former Chief Constable Med Hughes and Rotherham Council’s Director of Children’s Services Joyce Thacker are also to appear before the committee to answer questions on their knowledge of the extent of the problem.
