Police have revealed that a man arrested after an armed siege in Rotherham this week ‘had access to a firearm’.
The man was arrested after officers were called to a property on Bradstone Way, East Herringthorpe, on Wednesday night after concerns were raised for the safety of a man inside.
Specialist police negotiators were called to the scene and arrested a man on suspicion of false imprisonment.
Mark French, aged 38, of Bradstone Road, East Herringthorpe, was later charged with false imprisonment and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to cause fear of violence.
He appeared before Rotherham magistrates yesterday.
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
