Firefighters were called to Sheffield’s derelict Ski Village again to deal with another arson attack.

The blaze, reported at 7.30pm on Friday, involved matting on the ski slope.

Crews have been repeatedly called to the Parkwood Springs site since it burned to the ground in April 2012 following an arson attack.

Firefighters dealt with a spate of arson attacks across South Yorkshire over the weekend.

In Sheffield, firefighters dealt with four recycling bins set alight on Stannington Road, Stannington, a portable cabin torched off the Sheffield Parkway and a skip found burning on Godric Street, Shiregreen.

Rotherham crews were called out to deal with a pile of wood and branches found burning in a field on Rossiter Road, Greasbrough; a mattress set alight in Rose Hill Victoria Park, Rawmarsh and a hay bale set on fire on Kilnhurst Road, Rawmarsh.

Barnsley firefighters were called out to trees set on fire on Barnsley Road, Darfield; a mattress found burning on Brickman Street, Barnsley and a skip torched on West Street, Hoyland.

Police were alerted to all the incidents.
