A man from Sheffield who tried to smuggle drugs into prison in his underpants has been locked up for a year and a half.
Andrew Gavin Wildgoose, aged 32, of Farmstead Close, Gleadless Valley, Sheffield, was stopped at Gartree Prison, Harborough, on January 5 this year.
Inside his boxer shorts he was discovered to have tried to conceal a package of illegal drugs.
The substances were tested, and were found to consist of both cocaine and MDMA, or Ecstasy, plus the painkiller buprenorphine, used to limit the withdrawal symptoms of stopping taking heroin.
Wildgoose told police he had been given £150 to take a quantity of tablets into the prison.
He admitted possessing Class A , B and C drugs with intent to supply them, and three charges of bringing a prohibited item into prison.
A judge at Leicester Crown Court jailed him for 18 months.
