A milkman has appealed for help to find a delivery van stolen during his Sheffield rounds.

Nigel Sheratt was delivering pints of locally-produced milk to houses in Stannington on Saturday morning when his Land Rover Discovery was stolen.

The maroon coloured vehicle was carrying a haul of just over 100 glass bottles of produce from Our Cow Molly farm in Dungworth. Some of the bottles used to store the milk are around 17 years old.

After raising the alarm with police, staff at Our Cow Molly took to social networking site Twitter to appeal for help to trace the stolen vehicle. The message soon went viral, with hundreds posting Tweets about the crime.

Sheffield cab firm Mercury Taxis put all its drivers on the lookout for the 4x4, but so far it has not been found.

Eddie Andrew, of Our Cow Molly, said: “I think that Tweet must have been seen by thousands of people. We hope with that level of information being fed to police they can find it. It’s not just the car but the bottles - it’s a big loss. Some have been recycled and used for 17 years.”
