The juction of Burngreave Street, Catherine Road and Burngreave Road was sealed off by police last night.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said today a man in his early twenties had gone to A&E with a ‘wound’.
She said: “Police were alerted at 7.50pm after a man went to A&E with a wound. A man in his early twenties had suffered serious injuries to his hand and arm.
“Burngreave Road is expected to remain closed this morning while police carry out enquiries.”
Locals said the main road was sealed off at around 8pm last night but re-opened this morning. The other streets remain closed.
This morning there were several police cars at the scene.
One resident told The Star they’d heard about four gun shots at around 8pm last night.
