A man who died after an attack in his Sheffield flat was stabbed to death, police have revealed.
The 42-year-old, who has not yet been named, was found injured by paramedics in his home on Greenland Drive, Darnall, in the early hours of yesterday.
He was rushed to hospital, where he later died, and police were informed.
A post mortem examination established that he died of multiple stab wounds.
Police said a 26-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday remains in police custody today.
A second man, aged 40, who was also arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of an offensive weapon, has been bailed.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police investigating the murder of a man who was assaulted inside his home in Darnall have confirmed he died as a result of stab wounds.
“Officers were called by the ambulance service just after 1am after a man was found with serious injuries at his home in Greenland Drive, Darnall.
“The 42-year-old man, who has not yet been formally identified, was taken to hospital suffering serious injuries but died later.
“A post mortem examination carried out yesterday revealed he died as a result of multiple stab wounds.
“A 26-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody.
“A second man, aged 40, was also arrested on suspicion on murder and possession of an offensive weapon. He has been released on bail.”
