A man arrested over the murder of a man on a night out in the city centre has been bailed.
The 42-year-old was arrested on Monday over the death of 42-year-old Jon-Paul Smith, who was attacked on Friday.
Mr Smith was injured in the incident at the junction of West Street and Eldon Street at 11.50pm and was rushed to hospital.
Medics battled to revive him but he could not be revived and died in hospital the following day.
A post-mortem examination concluded that Mr Smith, originally from Liverpool, died from head injuries.
A 24-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault and a 31-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders were held in custody over the weekend and quizzed by detectives about the incident.
Both have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Officers investigating the attack are keen to hear from anyone who was in the West Street area on Friday night, who may have witnessed the incident.
