A MAN arrested on suspicion of murder after a charred body was found in his home is not facing prosecution.

The 28-year-old was arrested after emergency services were called to his flat on Regent Court, Hillsborough, Sheffield, after he found a man with serious burns on his sofa in August last year.

He had met 48-year-old Stephen Peck, of Wharncliffe Avenue, Wharncliffe Side, on a night out - and woke the following day to find Mr Peck dead in his lounge with burns from the waist up.

The resident was unable to find the key to his door and shouted out through his letter box that somebody had burned on his settee.

Paramedics smashed their way into the flat but were unable to revive Mr Peck, who had a partner and children.

An inquest into the death has been opened and adjourned in Sheffield.
