Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Madine arrived at court to stand trial today over assault charges.

Madine, aged 23, is charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm, wounding with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm and affray.

The case was delayed and is due to resume tomorrow.

Madine arrived at Leeds Crown Court this morning for his trial, which is expected to last two weeks.

Gateshead-born Madine – nicknamed ‘The Goal Machine’ – started his first team career in 2007 at Carlisle United and signed to Sheffield Wednesday in January 2011.
