Police chiefs in Sheffield say the investigation into the cause of a blaze which killed five members of the same family cannot be rushed.
Investigators are still examining the charred remains of a house on Wake Road, Nether Edge, where a fire broke out in the early hours of Monday.
Grandmother Shabbina Begum, aged 54, her daughter Anum Parwaiz F and three grandchildren all perished in the blaze.
Sheffield’s District Commander, Chief Superintendent David Hartley, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “We owe it to the family of those who died in this tragic blaze to investigate the cause of this fire as thoroughly as we can, in order to give them the answers that they need and deserve.
“This is, understandably, a thorough and complex process which needs to be carried out in scrupulous detail and cannot be rushed.
“I would like to thank the family and friends of those who died, as well as the wider community, for the dignity and patience they have shown while this joint investigation is underway, during what is clearly a very distressing and traumatic time.”
Sheffield coroner Chris Dorries has been alerted to the deaths and inquests are due to be opened.
Funeral arrangements for the family have not yet been finalised.
