Jailed former England footballer Adam Johnson has been attacked at a Doncaster prison, according to reports.
The ex-Sunderland star, serving a six year sentence at Moorland Prison for child sex offences, was attacked after refusing to clean plug holes in the showers, according to The Daily Mail.
The newspaper claims that another inmate asked Johnson, 28, to clean hair out of the plug holes, but he allegedly refused and said he had already completed his task, before asking “do you know who I am?”
A witness told the paper that a fight broke out, but other inmates stopped it before guards realised what was happening.
The alleged incident comes just days after The Sun reported that Johnson had got an £8 job as a cleaner and would be floor sweeping and bin-changing in his segregated wing.
Johnson was jailed for six years in March for sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.
