Rotherham MP Sarah Champion has challenged Prime Minister David Cameron over the lack of support she claims the Government is providing victims of the child sexual exploitation in the town.
She spoke out during Prime Minister’s Questions and said: “Two Ofsted reports show that local authorities are not equipped to deal with child sexual exploitation.
“In addition, South Yorkshire police officers are being investigated for failing victims of abuse. I raised all these issues in April. What will it take for this Government to help vulnerable people?”
In response, David Cameron commended the MP on her work on the issue, and said agencies needed to work together more.
He replied: “We have to get every agency — whether it is the police, social services or schools — working together.”
